The Resort
Awera is an exclusive beachfront surf resort with its own private beach, large pool and access to some of the best waves in the Mentawai Island chain. Being located in the Northern end of the Central Mentawi Islands, the wave options are almost endless!
The resort is well designed and is built with locally sourced materials and finished with bohemian furnishings. The resort’s onsite restaurant, where all meals are freshly prepared, looks out into the turquoise bay and is a great place to chill and watch the waves.
Surfing at Awera Resort
Awera is blessed with quality waves for all levels breaking right on their doorstep and nearby! With Awera Right (also known as Suicides), a powerful righthander breaking from 2-8ft in the right conditions. Telescopes is known as one of the most perfect waves on the planet when it’s on, with a relatively easy takeoff, the wave runs perfectly over a well-covered reef, offering up ample tube time! Other waves in the area include Icelands, Scarecrows, Ombak Tidur, and more.
For 2024, AWERA has increased their fleet of boats to a total of 3 dedicated to surfing. One 10m cabin fiberglass boat with 2 200 HP engines and another 13m long 3m wide with 3 200 HP engines for reaching more waves with more comfort. With transfers running 6am – 6pm, the surf experience is second to none. We recommend all travelers pre-purchase the surf package.
