Legendary Heliski on the Chugach Range in Alaska!
Based in the heart of the best heli-ski terrain on Earth, Valdez Heli-Ski Guides is one of Alaska’s best heli-ski operations.
With a variety of terrains going from epic steep lines to mellow bowls, deep powder and no trees, some of the finest powder in the world, and hundreds of runs available (dozens within just a 7-minute flight radius), Valdez Heli-Ski Guides offers an incomparable experience!
Mountains & Terrains
The Chugach Mountains rise dramatically from the North Pacific Ocean, featuring endless peaks, ridges, powder-filled bowls, natural halfpipe, frozen waves and scenic glacier runs. Tsaina Lodge, at the base of Thompson Pass, is perfectly positioned in the heart of these mountains. Surrounding it are mile-wide glaciers, knife-edge ridgelines, and towering peaks.
Though the famous Chugach lines seen in movies are real, most of the runs are more accessible. Valdez Heli-Ski Guides caters to skiers and riders of all advanced levels.
Alaska’s weather patterns benefit the area, with Gulf of Alaska storms providing deep, stable snowpacks. The Chugach Range has 3,600 square miles of top-notch terrain and a permit area covering 10,000 square miles, allowing Valdez Heli-Ski Guides to find clear skies for perfect runs.
The Package
Valdez Heli-Ski Guides (VHSG) was founded in 1993 by World Extreme Ski Champion Doug Coombs and Emily Coombs. With top-notch guides, extensive heli-ski tenure, abundant fresh powder, and the luxurious Tsaina Lodge, Valdez Heli-Ski Guides is one of the premier heli-ski destinations in the world.
The comprehensive safety program, small groups (4 guests + 1 guide), experienced guides, excellent ski conditions, and stable snowpack let you experience the legendary terrain of Alaska heli-skiing. Most descents average around 3,500 vertical feet, with some runs doubling that. Mount Dimond offers over 5,500 vertical feet, while Thompson Pass and the Tsaina Valley receive over 500 inches of snowfall annually.
