Since it was first surfed by the pioneers of the Mentawais, Hollow Trees has been the poster child of the Mentawais, churning out perfect right-hand tubes for the lucky surfers that make the trip!

The Resort
Situated on the remote Sipora Island in the Mentawais, Hollow Tree’s Resort is located within reach of 10 world-class waves, with the standout right-hander, Hollow Trees (Lance’s right) just a short paddle over the lagoon from the bungalows! All the accommodation is scattered along the beachfront of Katiet Beach with a total of 8 rooms in 4 stand-alone villas.
Hollow Tree’s Resort allows you to experience the beauty and remoteness of the Mentawai Islands, whilst having all the comfort and service to make for a relaxing and revitalizing trip!
Waves at Hollow Tree’s Resort
Hollow Tree’s Resort has access to some of the best waves in the Mentawais. Right out front is Hollow Tree’s (Lance’s Right), a picture-perfect right-hander that serves up some of the best tubes in the region, watch out for the ‘Surgeon’s Table’ at the end, a shallow reef platform that catches out those who don’t exit early enough! Around the corner, you have Lance’s Left, a long, consistent left-hander working in opposite winds to HT’s.
Cobras is an A-frame peak breaking nearby to Lance’s Left, offering good left-hand barrels. Nearby is Bintangs, a shallow dredging right-hander that on medium swells offers short right barrels and is playful in smaller swells. There are a load more waves to be explored with the surf team onsite, meaning there is always a wave to be found for your level!

The Rooms
Hollow Tree’s Resort has designed its villas to reflect the simple life on Sipora Island. All of the interior features have been built using recycled wood or sustainable natural materials. The whitewashed walls and ceiling give the feeling of space and large windows allow natural light to fill the living areas.
All rooms come with their own large ensuite bathrooms with hot water at all times. Air conditioning is also installed in all rooms for your comfort. Every villa also comes with its own swimming pool for you to relax beside and take a dip!
The Cuisine
Choose something savoury or sweet from the mouthwatering menu, which has been carefully created to reflect the unique flavours of Indonesia. You will also find a wide range of French and Thai dishes, from pasta dishes to tom yum goong (spicy shrimp soup) and pad Thai (Thai-style fried noodles). Lunch and dinner is served buffet-style, allowing you to fill up on as much food as you can put away!

Guest can snorkel the reefs, hike through the interior of the island, fish (both from land and boats), explore with kayaks, and cruise around the lagoon on the resort’s Stand Up Paddle boards. Getting there
AWAVE Travel and Hollow Tree’s Resort will arrange your transfer from Padang for you! You will be greeted at the airport by the resort staff and transferred to your hotel in Padang for an overnight stay. In the morning you will be transferred to the Mentawai Fast Ferry which will bring you to Sipora. From here you will be collected by speed boat and transferred to the resort. For larger groups, private speedboat transfers can be arranged from Padang!
