Friendly Surf Camp on Madeira Island!
Founded by local surfers Andrรฉ Rodrigues and Hรฉlder Vieira, Madeira Surf Camp was established with the aim of providing fellow surfers access to the island’s quality waves, natural beauty, culinary delights, and cultural experiences.
Located in the village of Porto da Cruz, on the northern coast of Madeira Island, between the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, Madeira Surf Camp is the perfect place for the ones looking for closer contact with nature and a relaxed lifestyle.
The Surf Camp
Nestled in the heart of Porto da Cruz village in Madeira, you’ll find Madeira Surf Camp. The guesthouse is a century-old building, that underwent a full renovation in 2020. This transformation ensures that our visitors enjoy both comfort and safety during their stay.
The terrace’s revitalization has turned it into the standout feature of the property. Offering a sun-soaked solarium, a revitalizing shower, and an outdoor barbecue area, this space serves as an exotic oasis in the northeast of Madeira Island. With panoramic 360ยบ vistas of the surrounding sea and mountains, it’s truly a unique setting.
The lower floor encompasses a fully equipped kitchen and a unified living area, ideal for dining or relaxation on the sofa. Additionally, a complete bathroom is located on this level, and these facilities are communal for all guests to share.
Waves at Madeira Surf Camp
Madeira Island presents a great variety of waves, all within a short distance, from gentle and lengthy waves ideal for beginners to challenging “big wave” conditions for experienced surfers. On the Island, there are almost no crowds, and local surfers are few in number.
For advanced surfers, the best time for surfing in Madeira is during the winter months when the swells are more consistent and the waves bigger. Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar are the two most renowned surfing spots on the southwestern coast of Madeira.
Porto da Cruz is the local surf village with two beach breaks, that offer perfect conditions for beginners and intermediate surfers as they are the only ones with volcanic black sand. Maderia Surf Camp Surf School is located on the beach of Praia da Alagoa.
Why We Love Madeira Surf Camp
Uncrowded quality waves for all surfing levels!
The surf camp is immersed in the local traditions and outstanding nature, steps away from the beach!
