Matanivusi is a boutique eco-resort on Fiji’s Coral Coast, located on the southern end of the main island, Viti Levu. The resort specializes in surfing, offering selected access to 7 separate reef breaks including the world-famous Frigates.

The Resort
Matanivusi is an all-inclusive boutique resort delivering a Fijian experience like no others. Situated on the Coral Coast, 2 hours south of Nadi, Matanivusi Resort has been built on 4 acres of land. This eco-friendly resort is surrounded by an extremely lush and old forest, abundant fruit trees, and centered around a 200-year-old Banyan tree. The white sandy beach is at your doorstep and fringes the ultra-blue lagoon.
12 exclusive rooms offer each guest a similarly deluxe experience, with an above-ground boardwalk to take you to your bure only metres from the ocean.
There is a fully stocked cocktail bar in the restaurant which overlooks the swimming pool and out to the lagoon and surf breaks. Wifi is available around the main building.
Waves at Matanivusi
There is surf all year round in Fiji with two different surf seasons. The winter season is from April to October when the low-pressure systems in the Southern Hemisphere produce consistent ground swells which can get up to 8-10ft. The summer season from November to March is generally associated with shorter duration swells, low crowds and light winds with often glassy conditions. This is the time when the local right-hand reef breaks really begin to fire up.
Frigates is the gem of the area, rivalling Cloudbreak in size, perfection and consistency and can be reached from the resort on a day trip. The other 6 local breaks (rights and lefts) reachable within a short boat ride are Pipe, J’s, Shifties, Serua, Leftovers and Vunaniu. All the surf breaks are over coral reef.

The Bures
The Deluxe rooms have been created for the perfect tropical getaway. With a great use of space, the rooms have large windows, are fan-cooled, fully screened, and have mosquito nets.
Spacious enough to incorporate a king-size bed or king singles, an ensuite with hot and cold water, and a sitting area and private deck looking over the lagoon, all rooms are beachfront and have direct access to the beach and lagoon.
Each bure (Fijian house) consists of 2 deluxe rooms. These are perfect for families or larger groups, with the choice of interconnecting rooms. The rooms can accommodate up to 2 adults and 1 child (king bed and one single) and cots are available.
The Cuisine
The package at Matanivusi includes 3 cooked meals a day from an ever-changing menu based on local and seasonal favourites. This includes a 3-course evening meal prepared by the superb on-site chef and all-day tea and coffee.
Matanivusi’s restaurant offers an eclectic fusion of Fijian, Indian and contemporary dishes using only the freshest ingredients. The sustainable restaurant uses fruits grown from around the property depending on the season, vegetables cultivated in the local villages, and fresh Yellowfin Tuna and Mahi Mahi from the daily catches brought in at Suva harbor.
The Restaurant and Bar have been designed with the intention of maximizing the view of the coral-fringed lagoon. The Bar also has a selection of wine and beers, along with a full range of spirits and liqueurs. If you are looking for something romantic you can have a candlelit dinner on your private deck.

Many activities are available at the resort on top of surfing: Snorkelling (lagoon and on the reef), Diving, Shark Dives, Stand Up Paddleboarding, Kayaking, Rainforest Walk, Guided Plantation Walk, Village Tour, Kava Ceremony, Zip Lining, White water rafting, Golf, Waterfall trips, Volleyball, Table-Tennis, and a large collection of books, magazines, and DVDs.
