Wave Hunter is a high-quality surf charter offering comfortable accommodation, reliability, and excellent value for money. The boat is run by an experienced charter company with years of experience cruising in the Mentawai and surrounding areas. Primarily running trips to the Mentawai Islands, Wave Hunter can be also chartered to explore the lesser-known areas of the Banyak and Hiniko islands.
With space for up to 12 persons to be accommodated across a large air-conditioned, 12-person bunk room and 2 double cabin rooms, there is tons of space to relax after a long day of surfing! From 2024, the charter will have satellite internet onboard.
The Boat
Wave Hunter comes in at 70ft long with 50mm planking, making for a very solid vessel. It is propelled by 2 Mitsubishi 622s with 280 Hp/ Engine, giving a guaranteed hull speed up to 12 Knots, making it one of the faster cruising charters in the Mentawais. This means less time traveling and more time surfing!
The charter has a large, well decorated indoor dining area with enough space to fit all guests. New for this season is a big sofa and table on the rear deck, perfect for chilling and watching the sunset! The charter comfortably fits up to 12 guests.
The Surf
The Mentawais are like no other island chain in the world. With such a high concentration of world-class waves and incredible consistency, the area has been drawing traveling surfers since the 1980’s when the first pioneers discovered this treasure trove of perfection.
From perfect peeling points, to heavy slabbing barrels, high-performance air waves and chilled longboard spots, the Mentawai Islands has something to offer everyone! The peak months of May – September offer regular larger surf, with the months on either side offering consistent perfect with lower crowds!

Accommodation
Wave Hunter has space for up to 12 guests spread across 3 rooms. There are 2 double cabins for couples of those seeking privacy and then a spacious air-conditioned dorm room with 12 beds. The dorm room has plenty of space for guests and all of their bags!
The dining area is well-proportioned and can seat all guests for meals. The inside of the boat has been tastefully decorated and well-designed. Up on deck, you’ll find a few areas to sit and relax and loads of space to store your boards and equipment!
Food
Wave Hunter’s team will always make sure that you’re fueled and ready for your next surf. Onboard you will receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all served in the dining area.
The package includes snacks, fruits, water, coffee, juices, cappuccinos, and 24 beers per person! Beers are transferable between the crew for those who don’t drink. Let us know if you plan to drink a lot and extra alcohol can be arranged for cost price in Padang!
