Luxury Resort overlooking the world-class waves of Simeulue!
Simeulue Island is a remote island, located 150km from mainland Sumatra, Indonesia. The area has become famous for its uncrowded point breaks, beach breaks, reefs, and off-shore islands. The Peak, the most consistent wave on the island, is right in front of Mahi-Mahi Surf Resort and viewable from all its rooms and common spaces!
The resort provides you with access to surf, marine, and jungle adventures and gives back through initiatives that achieve positive social, environmental, and economic impact in the Simeulue and Banyak landscapes.
The Resort
Mahi-Mahi Surf Resort is an all-inclusive ecologically minded surf resort located on Simeulue Island, in the Aceh province in Northern Sumatra.
There are a number of communal areas for guests to enjoy. The Joglo, a large open area made from traditional teakwood, is where all meals are enjoyed. This is also equipped with a projector for movie nights, a stereo, comfortable sofas, bean bags, board games, and books! There are two bar tops for dining, a fire pit for bonfires, a 9 hole pitch-and-put golf course, a volleyball court, and a swimming pool.
Wi-Fi is available in the dining area and the resort also offers 4G sim cards for purchase to keep you connected if needed.
Waves at Mahi-Mahi Surf Resort
Situated in the Doldrums just above the equator, Simeulue is well exposed to swells and not affected by trade winds as much as other areas of Indonesia. This means winds are most often light, gifting favourable conditions for surfing. This makes Mahi-Mahi Surf Resort a year-round surf trip destination.
Simeulue has a spot for all swells and winds with enough variety to keep all abilities happy! There’s a pleasant vibe in the line-ups and a lot of secret spots to be discovered with the resort’s surf guides!
April-October is the prime season for surfing here (same as Mentawai) with numerous 6-10ft S-SW swells.

Everything is included in your stay! From airport transfers to all meals, free scooter usage and assistance of the knowledgable surf guides!

A variety of traditional Indonesian rendang curries, nasi goreng, and fresh fish will keep you fuelled for those afternoon sessions! A blend of local and western-style meals are made with ingredients grown and sourced locally, often from Mahi-Mahi’s own organic community garden.
Unlimited coconuts are available all day at the cafe along with fresh fruits, juices, and smoothies. Each afternoon taste the daily freshly baked cakes, slices, and other treats the chefs whip up using Mahi-Mahi’s organic raw chocolate.
