Situated near Katiet Beach on South Sipora, one of the four major islands in the Mentawai archipelago, Bela Sulu Villas are a short walk away from one of the best waves in Indonesia and arguably the world: “HT’s,” aka “Hollow Tree’s” aka “Lance’s Right.”

Waves at Bela Sulu Villas
Bela Sulu Villas has access to some of the best waves in the Mentawais. Right out front is Hollow Tree’s (Lance’s Right), a picture-perfect right-hander that serves up some of the best tubes in the region, watch out for the ‘Surgeon’s Table’ at the end, a shallow reef platform that catches out those who don’t exit early enough! Around the corner, you have Lance’s Left, a long, consistent left-hander working in opposite winds to HT’s.
Cobras is an A-frame peak breaking nearby to Lance’s Left, offering good left-hand barrels. Nearby is Bintangs, a shallow dredging right-hander that on medium swells offers short right barrels and is playful in smaller swells!

For those who prefer to cook for themselves, the villas are equipped with modern kitchens that feature all the necessary appliances and utensils. We can provide you with a grocery list that you can choose from, which will be arranged from the mainland in Padang.
Alternatively, if you prefer to dine out and not cook, Hollow Tree’s Resort Restaurat is just 200m away from the villas and you will be welcome to dine in. This restaurant is renowned for its delicious local and international cuisine, and you can enjoy the meals in a beautiful beachfront setting.

When you’re not surfing the perfect waves in the area you have a wide range of activities to try! Guest can snorkel the reefs, get on a bike or hike through the interior of the island!

Getting there
AWAVE Travel and Bela Sulu Villas will arrange your transfer from Padang for you! You will be greeted at the airport by the resort staff and transferred to your hotel in Padang for an overnight stay. In the morning you will be transferred to the Mentawai Fast Ferry which will bring you to Sipora. From here you will be collected by speed boat and transferred to the resort.
