The Resort

Botik sits within the famous “Playgrounds” region of the Mentawai Islands – home to one of the highest densities of world-class waves anywhere on earth. The island itself is small and pristine, encircled by clear turquoise waters, coral reef, and soft white sand beaches shaded by palms. The surrounding seascape is alive with marine life, and the sunsets here are something to remember.

From the resort, it’s easy to reach a huge variety of surf spots: hollow lefts, playful rights, long walls, and easy cruisers, all within a short boat ride. Yet despite being close to so many iconic breaks, the island feels remote and untouched — a real sanctuary from the world beyond.

Waves at Botik Resort

Botik is perfectly positioned to explore more than twenty surf breaks in every direction. Scarecrows, Bank Vaults, Nipussi, Hideaways, and Beng Bengs are all within easy reach, offering something for every mood and tide. The resort’s experienced surf guides monitor conditions daily to find the best waves, ensuring every session counts.

Boats leave twice a day – once early in the morning and again in the afternoon – so you can surf as much or as little as you like. Waves in this part of the Mentawais range from playful and forgiving to fast and hollow, and while intermediate and advanced surfers will get the most from the area, there are also options for those looking to improve their skills in perfect, tropical conditions.

Accommodation

The resort’s three handcrafted bungalows are built from local hardwoods, designed with open-air living and the surrounding nature in mind. Each bungalow is spacious, comfortable, and just steps from the water’s edge. Interiors are warm and inviting – polished timber floors, handmade furniture, natural fabrics, and simple décor that reflects the Mentawai’s relaxed island atmosphere.

Every bungalow includes fans, air-conditioning, hot showers, and private verandas overlooking the beach or gardens. Whether you’re sharing with friends or enjoying the space to yourself, it’s easy to feel at home. The sounds of the jungle and ocean replace the noise of the outside world, creating a calm rhythm that quickly becomes your own.

The Cuisine

Meals at Botik Resort are fresh, colourful, and full of local flavour. The island’s chef prepares three generous meals a day using locally sourced produce, fresh seafood, tropical fruits, and home-baked breads and desserts.

Dinners are shared at large communal tables in the open-air restaurant, where guests gather to swap stories, laugh, and watch the evening settle over the lagoon.

Activities

When you’re not surfing or practicing yoga, the island invites you to slow down: snorkel in the coral lagoon, paddle around the reef, explore hidden coves, or read in a hammock beneath the palms.

Yoga

Yoga sessions take place in a shaded pavilion facing the sea — a peaceful setting for stretching sore surf muscles or simply finding stillness between sessions.

Getting there

After arriving in Padang, you would have to spend your first night in a hotel and catch Mentawai Fast Ferry the next morning. The ferry departs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and takes around 4-hours to get to Siberut, where Botik staff will pick you up to bring you to the resort.
