Since it was first surfed by the pioneers of the Mentawais, Hollow Trees has been the poster child of the Mentawais, churning out perfect right-hand tubes for the lucky surfers that make the trip!
Villa Onu is the perfect spot for a luxurious family trip or a friend’s getaway. With a private boat, excellent surf, and a private onsite chef, this is an amazing spot! The rooms are also available for individual bookings.
The Villa
Situated on the remote Sipora Island in the Mentawais, Villa Onu is located within reach of 10 world-class waves, with the standout right-hander, Hollow Tree’s (Lance’s right) just a short paddle over the lagoon from the bungalows! The Villa comprises 5 Ensuite rooms, with 2 directly overlooking HT’s.
The Villa itself is unique; a property of this size and quality is unheard of in the Mentawais! Villa Onu allows you to experience the beauty and remoteness of the Mentawai Islands, whilst having all the comfort and service to make for a relaxing and revitalizing trip!
Waves at Villa Onu Mentawai
Villa Onu has access to some of the best waves in the Mentawais. Right out front is Hollow Tree’s (Lance’s Right), a picture-perfect right-hander that serves up some of the best tubes in the region, watch out for the ‘Surgeon’s Table’ at the end, a shallow reef platform that catches out those who don’t exit early enough! Around the corner, you have Lance’s Left, a long, consistent left-hander working in opposite winds to HT’s.
Cobras is an A-frame peak breaking nearby to Lance’s Left, offering good left-hand barrels. Nearby is Bintangs, a shallow dredging right-hander that on medium swells offers short right barrels and is playful in smaller swells. There are a load more waves to be explored with the surf team onsite, meaning there is always a wave to be found for your level!

Villa Onu offers really exclusive and tailored meal options for you whilst staying. The Villa is served by an onsite private chef for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All meals are served in the large dining area and all dietary requirements can be catered for.

Activities
When you’re not surfing the perfect waves in the area you have a wide range of activities to try! Guest can snorkel the reefs, hike through the interior of the island, fish (both from land and boats). There is always something to do at Villa Onu!

Yoga is available at Hollow Tree’s Resort, next door. Hollow Tree’s Resort aims to make their yoga classes accessible for all levels with personalised tuition to support even the most experienced yogi! Offering creative Vinyasa flows, dynamic Hatha, and restorative Yin yoga, there is always a style to suit you! Packages can be purchased onsite or prior to arrival.
Getting there
AWAVE Travel and Villa Onu will arrange your transfer from Padang for you! You will be greeted at the airport by the resort staff and transferred to your hotel in Padang for an overnight stay. In the morning you will be transferred to the Mentawai Fast Ferry which will bring you to Sipora. From here you will be collected by speed boat and transferred to the resort. For larger groups, private speedboat transfers can be arranged from Padang!
