The Surf Camp
Surf & Yoga Arugam Bay is a small, community-focused surf retreat located just a short walk from the beach and main surf spots. Positioned in a quieter part of town, the camp offers a peaceful setting while still being close to the energy and culture of Arugam Bay.
The retreat is built around a “slow living” philosophy, encouraging guests to disconnect from daily routines and reconnect with nature, the ocean and themselves. The spacious property features open garden areas, shaded palm trees and relaxed communal spaces where guests can unwind between surf sessions.
With a maximum of around 16 guests, the camp maintains an intimate and social atmosphere, making it easy to connect with like-minded travellers and enjoy a more personalised surf experience.
Waves at Surf & Yoga Arugam Bay
Arugam Bay is widely regarded as one of the best surf destinations in Sri Lanka, offering a variety of consistent point breaks and beach breaks along the east coast. The area is particularly well-suited to beginner and intermediate surfers, with long, forgiving waves that are ideal for progression.
The camp provides tailored surf programs for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced intermediates. Coaching includes structured lessons, video analysis and surf theory sessions, ensuring guests develop both in and out of the water.
Nearby surf spots such as Main Point, Baby Point and other surrounding breaks offer different wave types depending on swell, tide and wind. With short travel times between spots, guests can surf in the best conditions each day while exploring the wider coastline.
